Ever look at your situation and feel powerless? Ever reflect on God’s promises and doubt?

In Gen 18:10-14, Sarah heard the promise of God and “laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?” The angel of the Lord responds, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” And, confirms His promise!

Sarah is past the age of child-bearing. Her body is worn out. Her master is old. She had lost ALL hope! It just wasn’t possible!!!

I can relate to Sarah’s emotions. I’ve experienced moments where I couldn’t even entertain God’s promises as a possibility; it was too painful. I’ve been at that place where my hopes had died. I’ve literally laughed out loud, powerless to the impossibilities surrounding my life. My heart ached. I wanted to believe but couldn’t.

The problem with our lack of faith (in these moments) resides in the focus of our beliefs.

When I feel powerless it’s because I’m looking at my abilities. When I feel God’s promise is impossible, it’s because I’ve shifted my attention from God’s ability to my limitations.

Friend, our journey of faith must be founded in our intimate relationship with God. It’s not a matter of thinking positive or making positive confession; it’s relying and trusting in God’s love for us that fills us with hope!

God loves you passionately! Zephaniah 3:17 illustrates God’s Fatherly love for us: “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (NIV)

Today, I want to challenge you to take a moment to consider–God loves you!

Think about it, seriously. Think of the great lengths He went to express His love for you and rescue you. Take a moment to consider the vastness of His power; He breathed stars into existence, out of nothingness…Then, consider your impossibilities in light of John 14:12-14. In this passage, Jesus promises “anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (NIV)

The question we face in light of God’s love is Will we love Him back? Is our love demonstrated in a passionate pursuit of Him? Will we willingly follow and obey? Will we trust when all seems lost?

God is calling us to respond to His love, by loving Him with our life!
